Retreat Journals

You Are I Am Retreat Journal

Who we are in light of who God is changes everything. God is our creator, protector, and our redeemer and we are created in His image.  Maybe more importantly, we are “His.”

Survivor Retreat Journal

We spent this weekend at Guadalupe State Park and played lots of Survivor-style games. The study was based off the story of Moses. God provided for the Israelites with living water and manna and He provides survival tools for us too.

Serve Mission Trip Journal

The Scriptures are full of examples of people serving the Lord and that is the primary focus of the lessons in this is journal. Our weekend was spent building wheelchair ramps, painting/scraping, yardwork, and porch construction, so these lessons fit perfectly with the activities of a mission trip.

Risk Retreat Journal

If we don’t ever take any risks, then we’ll never be a part of God’s work. We must learn to take risks with other people both inside and outside the church, but the greatest risk we need to take is with God Himself.

PJP Aquatics Retreat Journal

Peter, Jonah, and Paul all have experiences with the water that give us guidance as believers. This series of lessons focuses on their stories.

Loser Retreat

To save your life you must lose it. We spent our weekend thinking about what it really means to put other first. Christ has called us to be people who serve – people who allow other to go first – people like Jesus, who are willing to give their lives for the sake of our King.

JC Retreat

What did Jesus actually do for us? How have his actions impacted us? This journal has 3 sections: Meeting Jesus, Following Jesus, and a section of devotionals written by different people at Tomball UMC for the youth ministry students.

Dive In Retreat

When it comes to our relationship with God, its OK to just dive on in. There’s no reason to just get your toes wet and then your ankles, and so on. God can be trusted, so cannonball it and make some waves. Disciples were examples of men who were daring, strong, and also ordinary. Really ordinary, but the interesting thing is that the ripples they made are still spreading 2000 years later.

Big Brother Retreat

We spent the weekend playing Big Brother-style games. On the other hand, since our student were trapped in the house, we also spent our time training our students how to do inductive Bible Study and we used a Precept ministries resource to help build this journal. This journal has 3 sessions based upon the book of Titus.

Believe Retreat

“The mind knows, but only the heart can believe.” Lots of people say they believe, but the evidence of their lives says something else. True belief will result in action on our part – changed lives – different decisions. With this kind of belief, Jesus will change our hearts and make nobodys into somebodys.

Fixed Retreat Journal

Let us “fix” our eyes on Jesus the author and perfecter of our faith. My friend Hans Googer led us through this 3 session series: No Other Name. No Other Gods. No Other Commandment.

Creation Retreat Journal

“The stars and the heavens declare His glory.” This journal uses three parts of creation (The stars/heavens, the human body, and trees) to declare the wondrous works of God. As we explore His handiwork, we are able to discover more about the artist.

Just Visiting Retreat Journal

1 Timothy 4:12 – “Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for them in speech, life, love, faith, and purity. Each section of this journal reflects on these five characteristics.
